Little Lady E

The B family welcomed a highly anticipated little baby girl recently. I was so excited to photograph her, we have been waiting for her for a while, lol. Mom S, emailed me to share that she had delivered a girl and said, “bring on the ruffled diaper covers and PINK!” Baby E did really well during her session despite being a little bit older than a typical newborn subject- she was born to be in front of the camera!

Here is the story of how baby E got her name… Our little princess is named Elizabeth Mara Marie Bielert. We chose Elizabeth because we are fans of traditional names. Mara was Thomas’s great grandmothers name and Marie is the middle name of all the women in my family. What we didn’t realize till after she was born and someone pointed it out, was that Mara is a variant of Mary and Marie is the french version of Mary… so we named our child, Elizabeth Mary Mary Bielert. We considered changing it but both Thomas and I are too stubborn and wont give up on our choice for middle names… oh well, I guess Mary Mary it is!

Little Miss M

Today’s post features the winner of a contest I held last month to showcase some of my design work! I was so thrilled that L won, as we went to school together and most recently, prenatal yoga (our wee ones are only a few weeks apart!). Little Miss M and her mama L, met me at a local heritage site and it was the perfect setting for our mini-session. Miss M inherited her mama’s looks and I had such a blast capturing these two beautiful ladies. I can’t wait to create M’s first birthday invite- her party is a pink lemonade theme (how cute!). Their family is jetting off to Europe on Saturday to visit M’s father’s family, and I know they are going to have such a wonderful time. Here is your adorable send of M family:)Have fun!!

10 Months

Babeh Babeh is 10 months old. Well, chronologically that is. Technically he’s officially 9 months now, and that’s a pretty darned exciting age! He is all about moving these days. In fact, he is moving so much that he didn’t gain any weight this past month. Babeh not gain weight, what, not even an ounce…? Nope. But this is the kid that gained a pound a week for a month straight, lol. He is still eating the same amount though (boatloads), so that really gives you an idea of just how much he moves! He is crawling, pulling to stand and couch cruising; he even stood on his own a few times this week. He says “mama,” “hi,” and “ball.” I think that “dada” and “dog” are near to being discriminate too. He points to everything now and makes the sound “dat” which leads me to believe that he might be saying “what’s that?” but I’m not 100% sure. My favourite is the two handed point, you know he is really serious about something when he does that! He is sleeping so much better. 10.5 to 12 hours each night solid, and about 3 hours worth of naps during the day; yes I am in heaven. He’s getting into mischief, going after plugs and cords of any kind. And lately he has developed the most outgoing, completely loveable little personality. He turns me to goo at least 10 times a day. He has 5 teeth, with the 6th almost down. And like I mentioned above- he has a voracious appetite. He yells at you if you are feeding him too slow these days, lol. His Infant Development Consultant, Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist are super happy with his progress. Right now we are just working on the quality of his skills, primarily those involving his core strength and transitions during his day. I am so, so, so proud of him. Okay, there’s my mama gush for the month, now check out some cuteness!

And of course the compare shot…

Everly at 10 months on the left, she was 29.5 inches tall and weighed 21 pounds. M at 10 months on the right, he is 30.5 inches tall and 23 pounds, 11 ounces.

Matthew’s such a cutie. Do love that red hair. Great photography as always Jess. Love this setting on the beach too.

The D Family

Last week, I spent a windy Wednesday evening with the fabulous D Family. Mother nature delivered some amazing warm light and when I was editing the photos, I completely forgot that there was a slight chill to the air. I remember thinking, “how were they wearing sweaters in this heat,” lol. The little heatwave we just had in Victoria likely clouded my memory too! The D family brought their A game and it was such an easygoing session, I could not get over how well behaved little C was! Such an adorable little man:)We swapped stories about living with toddlers as mom and dad played with little C in the long grass. My goal was to capture the easiness and love that they have about them. And in looking at their images, I think that mission was accomplished!

Dad Charlie’s is a local realtor with Royal LePage. He is a seriously nice guy, one of those people you feel like you have known forever. If you are in need you should check out his website!

Thanks Jessica! I love them ALL!

Three

I remember when Everly was born, her first day seemed to last forever. Not in a bad way forever, but the honeymoon sort of forever. Then all of a sudden, she was twenty-four hours old, then one week, then one month, one year, and now here were are at three. Until you are a parent, you really don’t understand how quickly time can pass. There is regular time, and then parent time. Parent time should come with a Delorean. Although I absolutely adore the person Everly is becoming, I still miss those first days with her, tiny and brand new. I guess that’s a normal parent thing, isn’t it.

And, speaking of the person Everly is becoming, well I think she’s pretty darned amazing! Of course, being her mother I am a tiny bit biased, lol. She’s athletic, smart, tenacious, funny, creative, dramatic, empathetic; in a nutshell, she’s perfect. I was just telling a friend today that some of Everly’s best qualities, are also qualities that make her challenging to parent sometimes! Combine dramatic, smart and tenacious and you’ve got a fun time let me tell you. But the good moments far outweigh the challenging and I wouldn’t trade her for the world.

I interviewed her for this post, her answers are below. B and I were busting a gut at some of her answers. I think one day it will be fun for her to read them and over the years to see how they change. I intend to ask her the same ones every year for as long as she cooperates!

This session took place on her actual birthday in a nearby field. She was unbelievably cooperative. Yes, she might have been told that we would go to Qoola afterwards, but still, the quality of cooperation was amazing! My friend Emily and her little guy Kingston joined us as well, and oh my goodness that made for some adorable shots of the two kids. The light was trickier than it was supposed to be, the sky was dappled with clouds so we went from strong backlight to shade. It kind of gives the session variety though and I thought that was fun.

Happy birthday Everly. Thank you for the sunshine you bring into our lives every day. xoxo.

Just wanted to let you know that it is amazing to hear you speak so lovely about your children when I see you. I’m so happy to finally see your work and check out the little monkeys that keep you so busy.

Can’t wait till I see more from you. Have a wonderful Mothers Day and enjoy your family!

Excellent pictures as always Jess. You are a super talented photographer. I love the nature setting too, in the field; it’s beautiful, just perfect. Looks like the Evie & Kingston were having a ton of fun too!
